Assistant Vice President - Accident & Health Retail Underwriting - Insurance

As the AVP - A&H Retail Underwriting, you will be at the forefront of our Accident & Health retail underwriting operations, driving profitability and sustainable growth. Your day-to-day will involve leading a team of underwriters, setting underwriting guidelines, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. You will collaborate closely with sales, product development, and claims teams to optimize our product offerings and underwriting processes. - Lead and mentor a team of A&H retail underwriters, fostering a high-performance culture focused on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. - Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and procedures to ensure consistent and profitable risk selection. - Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for product innovation and underwriting enhancements. - Collaborate with the sales team to provide underwriting support for large or complex cases, ensuring timely and accurate responses. - Monitor underwriting performance metrics and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions as needed. - Conduct regular audits of underwriting files to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. - Partner with the claims team to analyze claims data and identify trends that may impact underwriting strategies. - Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including reinsurers and brokers, to optimize risk transfer and distribution strategies.
