About this Role
Upaya Social Ventures is seeking a full-time Associate to join its Investment and Portfolio team in Bangalore, India. This role will be central to sourcing, evaluating, investing, and growing impact-first investments aligned with Upayas mission of creating dignified jobs and sustainable livelihoods. The Associate will work closely with the investment team and portfolio companies to ensure alignment with Upayas goals of financial sustainability and lasting social impact. This position requires strong financial acumen, analytical thinking, and a genuine passion for supporting early-stage entrepreneurs operating in challenging market contexts. The Associate will play a key role in identifying promising enterprises, conducting comprehensive due diligence, and monitoring portfolio performance to drive both financial returns and social outcomes. The expected start date is as early as possible, no later than October 1, 2026, and the position reports directly to the Director of Investments and Portfolio.
Responsibilities
Identify promising early-stage enterprises aligned with Upayas mission through proactive sourcing, networking, and partnerships
Conduct financial, operational, and impact due diligence, including deep dives into market, product, team, and scalability
Design key indicators that best capture the financial and social performance of Upayas portfolio, conduct real-time analysis, and assist with visualization and external reporting when needed
Review financial statements of portfolio partners and report key performance metrics and trends across categories
Requirements
4 to 8 years of post-qualification work experience as a finance professional in an investment fund, investment banking, financing company, or consulting firm
Masters degree preferred in MBA, Masters in Finance, Accounting, or another relevant postgraduate degree in finance
Demonstrated proficiency in financial statement analysis and financial modelling
Experience analyzing companies and business models
Excellent analytical and organizational skills
High level of proficiency in MS Excel and competence in MS Office; experience with Google Sheets is a plus
Impact investing experience is an advantage
Strong relationship building skills, especially with regards to working closely with early-stage entrepreneurs
Strong written and verbal communication with fluency in English; fluency in other languages is a plus
Comfortable with travel to partner locations, especially far-away places such as north-eastern states of India and impoverished communities
