About The Role
We are looking for a backend engineer to build and maintain scalable backend services powering Onmeta's fiat on/off-ramp infrastructure. You will own specific modules end-to-end from design to deployment in a fast-moving fintech and Web3 product environment. This is a hands-on role with high ownership and no management layers.
What You'll Do
Build and maintain high-performance backend services in Go and/or TypeScript (Node.js)Design scalable APIs and data models for real-time fiat-to-crypto transaction flowsWork with MongoDB and SQL databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent) at production scaleImplement caching strategies using Redis or equivalentDevelop event-driven systems using Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging technologiesOwn infrastructure on AWS including deployment, monitoring, and reliabilityImprove system observability, performance, and scalability proactively
Must-Have Requirements
Production-grade experience in Go or TypeScript (Node.js) Rust is not requiredHands-on experience with MongoDB (primary NoSQL store)Strong working knowledge of SQL/relational databases (PostgreSQL or equivalent)Practical AWS experience the team runs exclusively on AWSFamiliarity with caching fundamentals (Redis or equivalent)Experience owning features end-to-end in a production environment with no hand-holdingComfortable working in an early-stage startup (pre-Series B) with fast pace and high ambiguityStrong understanding of scalability APIs and data models under real-world load
Good to Have
Experience in fintech or payments domain (KYC flows, wallets, transaction processing)Familiarity with event-driven systems Kafka, SQS, or similarExposure to Docker and CI/CD pipelinesBasic understanding of blockchain / Web3 fundamentalsStrong DSA fundamentals (tested in Round 1 of interviews)
