Backend Platform Engineer

About the job About The Role We are looking for a Backend Platform Engineer to build and maintain scalable backend services and data infrastructure for a consumer technology platform. You will focus on API performance, event processing, data reliability, and secure multi-tenant systems. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript. Build and optimize low-latency services for high-volume requests. Develop event-driven pipelines with reliable processing, deduplication, and retry handling. Maintain data flows across relational databases, caching systems, and analytics stores. Implement tenant isolation, access controls, and data validation. Build background processing and enrichment workflows. Monitor service performance, investigate production issues, and improve system reliability. Write meaningful tests, review code, and document technical decisions. Collaborate with product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver production-ready solutions. Required Skills Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js. Experience building and maintaining production backend services and REST APIs. Solid understanding of SQL, database design, and query optimization. Experience with at least one of: message queues, event streaming, caching systems, or analytical databases. Understanding of asynchronous processing, idempotency, and eventual consistency. Strong debugging, testing, and problem-solving skills. Experience with Git and collaborative code reviews. Good to Have Familiarity with Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, or ClickHouse. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure. Exposure to workflow orchestration, observability, or performance testing. Experience building multi-tenant platforms.
