Job Summary
We are looking for Backup Support Engineers with hands-on experience in EMC backup technologies to manage, monitor, and support enterprise backup and recovery environments. The role includes ensuring data protection, backup success, compliance, and rapid recovery.
Key Responsibilities L1 Backup Support
- Monitor backup jobs and daily backup reports
- Perform basic troubleshooting for backup failures
- Handle backup-related incidents and service requests
- Execute restore requests under guidance
- Follow SOPs and ITIL processes
- Escalate issues to L2/L3 as required
L2 Backup Support
- Troubleshoot backup failures and performance issues
- Manage backup schedules, policies, and retention
- Perform restores (file, VM, and application-level)
- Support patching and upgrades of backup systems
- Coordinate with storage, OS, and application teams
- Prepare backup compliance and audit reports
L3 Backup Support
- Act as L3 escalation point for complex backup issues
- Design and optimize backup recovery architecture
- Lead DR drills, restore testing, and capacity planning
- Perform root cause analysis and preventive actions
- Work closely with vendors (EMC)
- Automate backup operations and reporting
- Mentor L1/L2 teams and define best practices
Required Skills
- Strong experience with EMC Backup solutions
(Avamar, Networker, Data Domain)
- Knowledge of backup recovery concepts
- Experience with VM, file, and application backups
- Familiarity with ITIL processes
- Solid troubleshooting and communication skills
Good to Have
- Experience with Veeam or Commvault
- Exposure to cloud backup (Azure/AWS)
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell / Shell)
- Backup or storage certifications
Education
- Bachelor s degree in IT / Engineering or equivalent
