About the position
ThriftBooks is seeking an experienced Benefits & Leave Administrator to oversee employee benefits, leave of absence, and workers' compensation programs. This role involves delivering exceptional service and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The administrator will manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs including health and welfare benefits, COBRA, and the 401(k) plan. They will also oversee all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, state-paid leave programs, ADA-related leave accommodations, parental leave, and workers' compensation. The role requires partnering with employees, managers, and insurance carriers to resolve issues, support return-to-work efforts, maintain accurate HRIS records, and ensure compliance. Additionally, the administrator will support annual benefit renewals and Open Enrollment, prepare compliance reporting, analyze program data, recommend process improvements, and help develop employee communications, resources, and wellbeing programs.
Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefit programs including health and welfare benefits, COBRA, and the 401(k) plan.
Oversee all leave of absence programs, including FMLA, state-paid leave programs, ADA-related leave accommodations, parental leave, and workers' compensation.
Partner with employees, managers, and insurance carriers to resolve issues.
Support return-to-work efforts.
Maintain accurate HRIS records.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Support annual benefit renewals and Open Enrollment.
Prepare compliance reporting.
Analyze program data.
Recommend process improvements.
Help develop employee communications, resources, and wellbeing programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related experience.
Three to five years of experience administering employee benefits, leave of absence, and/or workers' compensation programs.
Experience administering FMLA, ADA, state leave programs, and other employment laws.
Strong analytical, organizational, and customer service skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Willing to authorize a background check.
Nice-to-haves
Experience with HRIS and benefit administration systems.
Paycom experience a plus.
Strong MS Office Suite knowledge, proficient in Excel desired.
Experience working with benefit brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party administrators.
SHRM-CP, PHR, CEBS, or similar professional certification.
