Key Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records, clinical documentation, and physician notes.
• Understand medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic disease processes.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Translate diagnoses, procedures, and medical services into standardized codes.
• Check medical records for completeness and accuracy.
• Follow healthcare regulations, client guidelines, and coding standards.
• Identify missing or unclear information and escalate queries when required.
• Maintain accuracy and productivity according to company quality standards.
• Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA/privacy requirements.
• Participate in training and continuously improve knowledge of medical coding guidelines.

Skills Usually Required

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or related fields.
• Good knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology and diseases.
• Good English communication and comprehension skills.
• Attention to detail and analytical ability.
• Basic computer/MS Office skills.
• Willingness to learn ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding.
