What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review patient records for procedural and diagnostic coding to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Communicate with providers for clarification of documentation in a professional manner
- Participate in performance improvement activities and maintain quality and productivity standards
- Submit claims electronically and manually as needed, while researching claim denials
- Assist with other billing department duties and maintain strict patient confidentiality
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Current Medical Coding certificate
- Comprehensive knowledge of ICD, HCPCS, and CPT coding
- High School graduate with experience working on computers and typing/keyboarding speed of at least 40 WPM
- Knowledge of health insurance plans and Microsoft Office software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Auditing, Compliance, and Billing or Practice Management Certification(s): CCS-P through AHIMA or CPC through AAPC
- Two years of experience in an office environment, including at least six months in a medical office
- One year of experience in billing and collections in a medical office setting
- Knowledge of Federally Qualified Health Centers
