Role Overview
- We are seeking a hands-on DevOps / Cloud Lead to design, build, and evolve our cloud and platform infrastructure
- This role combines deep technical execution with architectural ownership and light team leadership
- You will remain actively involved in implementation while guiding design decisions for scalability, reliability, and security
- This is not a people-management role
- You will lead by example, stay close to the code and infrastructure, and act as the technical escalation point for complex production issues
Key Responsibilities
- Platform & Architecture
- Design, build, and operate cloud platforms across AWS and Azure
- Own architectural decisions related to scalability, reliability, security, and cost
- Translate ambiguous requirements into transparent, implementable architectures
- Anticipate scaling, performance, and security risks early
- Hands-On Engineering
- Stay actively hands-on with infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and production systems
- Design and evolve CI/CD and GitOps architectures
- Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards and reusable modules
- Build automation using Python and Bash
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex production incidents
- Kubernetes & Cloud Operations
- Design and operate Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, GKE)
- Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Helm
- Own cloud networking, IAM, security controls, and cost optimization
- Design and maintain observability platforms (metrics, logs, alerts)
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Research emerging tools, platforms, and architectural patterns
- Design and execute proofs of concept (POCs) to validate design decisions
- Proactively propose platform and architectural improvements
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and code/design reviews for 23 engineers
- Set engineering standards and best practicesPartner closely with application, security, and platform teams
- Clearly communicate architectural trade-offs to technical and business stakeholders
Required Technical Skills (Must Be Hands-On)
- Kubernetes: architecture and operations (EKS / AKS / GKE)
- CI/CD & GitOps: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Argo CD, Azure DevOps
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (primary); CloudFormation or Ansible a plus
- Cloud Platforms: Strong experience in AWS or Azure (both preferred)
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Splunk and/or ELK
- Automation & Scripting: Python, Bash
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, and security best practices
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps / Cloud Engineering
- Proven experience designing and operating production platforms
- Demonstrated architectural ownership in complex environments
- Experience in enterprise or regulated environments strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs
