About the Role
Our client, a distinguished insurance firm, is seeking a highly skilled Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join their established team. This integral role will be based at our client's offices in Nagpur, Maharashtra, IN . You will be responsible for analyzing, selecting, and pricing commercial risks, ensuring profitable growth and portfolio stability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of commercial insurance lines, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to build rapport with brokers and agents. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and underwrite a variety of commercial insurance risks, including property, casualty, and specialty lines. Assess financial statements, loss history, and other relevant data to determine risk acceptability and pricing. Develop appropriate policy terms, conditions, and coverage limits to manage risk effectively. Build and maintain strong relationships with retail brokers and agents, providing expert underwriting support. Negotiate terms and conditions with producers to achieve profitable business objectives. Monitor the performance of assigned portfolios, identifying trends and potential issues. Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company strategies. Collaborate with claims and risk control departments to provide comprehensive client solutions. Contribute to product development and market analysis efforts. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Professional insurance designations (e.g., CPCU) are highly valued. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in commercial insurance underwriting. In-depth knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance products and their applications. Strong analytical, decision-making, and risk assessment skills. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities, with a focus on relationship management. Proficiency in underwriting support systems and standard office software. Ability to work independently and manage a demanding workload effectively.
