About the Role Our client, a prominent and established insurance firm, is seeking a diligent and experienced Compliance Officer to join their operations in Kolkata, West Bengal . This critical role ensures that all company activities adhere to the complex web of legal, regulatory, and ethical standards governing the insurance industry. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance programs, conducting internal audits, and providing guidance to staff on regulatory matters. The ideal candidate possesses a sharp analytical mind, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong understanding of Indian insurance laws and regulations. This is a full-time, office-based position, allowing for direct engagement with legal teams and senior management in our Kolkata office. Key Responsibilities Develop, implement, and maintain the company's compliance program and policies. Monitor adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards. Conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify compliance gaps. Investigate potential compliance breaches and recommend corrective actions. Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance-related matters. Liaise with regulatory bodies and external auditors. Keep abreast of changes in insurance laws and regulations and update policies accordingly. Manage regulatory reporting requirements and submissions. Advise senior management on compliance risks and strategies. Maintain accurate records of compliance activities and documentation. Requirements Law degree or a Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Finance or Business Administration. Minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within the insurance sector. In-depth knowledge of Indian insurance regulations (IRDAI guidelines, etc.). Experience in conducting internal audits and risk assessments. Strong understanding of corporate governance principles. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal/regulatory concepts. High level of integrity and professional ethics. Proficiency in using compliance management software and tools. Ability to work effectively in a structured, office environment in Kolkata .
