They are hiring a Credit Analyst to provide analytical and administrative support, including preparing credit applications, conducting credit reviews, and performing research and analytics on borrowers' performance.ResponsibilitiesConduct analysis and research on the performance of borrowers to assess historical performance and future projectionsPerform quarterly and annual reviews of loan portfolio and handle a variety of system and procedural issues related to the borrowers such as internal grading, monthly/quarterly reporting, and other ad hoc projectsPrepare credit applications, support due diligence processes and day-to-day administrative activities for transactionsAssist with amendments, dividend transactions, loan closings and funding, and other credit events that may impact the borrowerAssist in the creation of internal reports, including those reports relating to exposure, budget and inventory as well as ad hoc reports for managementGather support documentation to structure deals and assist in drafting pre-screen memos for the Credit DepartmentUndertake research and analytics related to specific sectors, regions or loans, and stay abreast of current market conditionsSkills0-2 years of comparable or relevant experienceAble to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and systemsWorks well in a culturally diverse and team oriented environmentDemonstrates intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learningStrong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize large amounts of information, analyze risk and identify mitigating factorsSelf-driven and motivated; takes personal ownership of specific assignmentsHighly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment and ability to form good relationships internally and externallyAble to coordinate and communicate with various internal departments across the bank (middle/back office, global counterparts)Ability to organize thoughts and clearly articulate points and provide summaries and explanations of transactions, verbally or in writing to management or other internal departmentsExperience in preparing credit applications, performing cash flow analysis, ability to read and interpret financial statements, and strong accounting skillsMust be proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word and PowerPointDemonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlinesJapanese and English language skills (business level) requiredExperience at the analyst level in a corporate banking group preferredBachelor's degree in Finance, Business or Accounting preferred or equivalent education and trainingBenefitsThe role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award.In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.SMBCs employees participate in a Hybrid workforce model that provides employees with an opportunity to work from home, as well as, from an SMBC office.SMBC requires that employees live within a reasonable commuting distance of their office location.SMBC provides reasonable accommodations during candidacy for applicants with disabilities consistent with applicable federal, state, and local law.Company OverviewSMBC Group is a top-tier global financial group.
