Role Overview

As a DevOps Lead at our organization, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team to deliver shared solutions for infrastructure operations across our products and services. You will work collaboratively with colleagues from Elsevier's Technology organization to advance science and health by providing powerful digital solutions. Your role will involve building a new DevOps team in Bengaluru to support multiple products at different lifecycle stages, while fostering collaborative partnerships with other DevOps teams in Europe and the US.

Key Responsibilities

- Hire and build a high-performance engineering team by recruiting talented engineers and providing mentorship and coaching. - Demonstrate strong leadership qualities by managing team members' performance, personal development, and career progression. - Monitor costs and ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and external requirements while delivering frugal service. - Collaborate effectively within an agile team and with Development and Product teams to drive continuous improvements in customer outcomes. - Coordinate with other DevOps teams to align on shared solutions and responsibilities. - Configure, deploy, monitor, and support application hosting in AWS, utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices. - Implement effective monitoring and automation to manage cloud resources efficiently. - Maintain software systems across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and optimize CI/CD pipelines. - Troubleshoot and provide solutions for hosting issues, integrating infrastructure and software delivery best practices. - Act as an escalation point for internal and external customers to support production issues. - Mentor junior team members to enhance their skills.

Qualifications Required

- 7+ years of Cloud Engineering experience in an international, product-based organization. - BS in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent. - Proven track record in building and leading high-performance engineering teams. - Experience with delivery and project management in large, multi-product environments. - Strong background in DevOps, cloud hosting, infrastructure automation, and scripting. - Familiarity with Agile practices and working in collaborative environments. - Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management abilities. - Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
