Overview
As an economic analyst at the Mastercard Economics Institute (MEI), your role will involve engaging in data analytics and economic research to support client and stakeholder engagements for the Economics Institute, with a specific focus on North America. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting client and stakeholder engagements, with a focus on NAM economic research.
- Collaborating with external clients, academic institutions, and industry partners.
- Generating initial insights to create effective storylines and visuals at the stream or small project level.
- Outlining and assisting in writing reports and drafting client presentations at the work stream or project level.
- Proactively seeking new knowledge and structuring project work to capture intellectual capital with minimal oversight.
- Actively participating in new solution development and supporting thought leadership activities by building knowledge related to economic research.
Qualifications required for this role include:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics (preferred), Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Experience in statistical modeling, quantitative analysis, data engineering, R development, with a focus on economic research.
- Understanding of statistics and econometric concepts, modeling, and forecasting techniques.
- Proficiency in SQL and Hadoop is essential.
- Expertise in R, Python, or other major statistical packages is essential.
- Experience with Tableau is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of JavaScript for data visualization is a plus.
- Proficiency in key econometric and statistical techniques such as predictive modeling, logistic regression, survival analysis, time series modeling, design of experiments, decision trees, and data mining methods.
- Willingness to learn additional statistical applications or software as required.
- Experience in the financial services industry is desirable.
- Excellent communication and strong writing skills are required.
