About the Role:
Lead a small engineering team building high-volume, data-intensive systems that transform complex enterprise data into accurate, machine-readable outputs. Youll work closely with the founder on architecture and own system reliability, scalability, and correctness.
What Makes This Role Different:
This is not a pure people-management role. Youll remain deeply hands-on with architecture, production systems, and technical decisions. Youll also be expected to operate effectively in ambiguity and challenge existing architectural decisions when needed.
What Youll Own:
Drive architecture across TypeScript/NestJS workflows and Python data/AI servicesBuild reliable long-running workflows with durable execution, retries, and idempotencyDesign scalable data processing using Polars, DuckDB, Parquet, and streamingBuild evaluation and regression frameworks to measure AI/system accuracyOwn production systems running in customer cloud environmentsLead hiring, code reviews, technical decisions, and mentor engineersMaintain clean boundaries between workflow orchestration, AI/agent execution, and bulk data processing
What Were Looking For:
57 years building backend, distributed, or data-intensive systemsStrong expertise in Python or TypeScript, with working proficiency in the otherExperience taking systems from design production ongoing ownershipStrong understanding of distributed systems, retries, idempotency, failures, and long-running workflowsHands-on experience with high-volume data processingEngineering leadership experience mentoring, reviewing, and raising technical standardsStrong focus on correctness, observability, and production reliability
