About the position
Since the 1989 launch of the Global Allocation Fund, BlackRock's Global Allocation Team, which currently manages over $50 billion in assets across its global platform, has delivered equity-like returns with lower levels of risk. The Fund was designed to be a core holding for investors seeking long term growth. It's flexible, multi-asset mandate and broad investment universe enables its 50+ seasoned management team to invest across asset classes, geographies, currencies and securities. The team employs a research-intensive approach that combines fundamental, bottom-up security selection within a risk-controlled top-down asset allocation investment process. Strong interaction and knowledge-sharing exists among the BlackRock Global Allocation team, in addition to using BlackRock's worldwide resources for investment ideas, fundamental analysis, technology, and risk analysis. Blackrock's Global Allocation Team is searching for a Research Analyst who will be responsible for performing research and analysis for global equities for the Global Allocation fund.
Responsibilities
Equity research and analysis for global companies in the energy, materials and utility sectors
Identify key investment issues, separate fact from opinion, and analyze facts to shape investment theses
Operate as part of the team utilizing best practices in terms of investment philosophy and process while contributing to their ongoing evolution and development
Build partnerships and strong working relationships with counterparts around the team
Serve as a resource for, and share information with, other investment professionals at BlackRock
Make investment recommendations
Requirements
Minimum of seven years relevant experience
Enthusiastic, proactive self-starter who is internally motivated to deliver superior results to the team and Global Allocation shareholders
Strong fundamental research skills with strength in financial analysis and modeling; excellent Excel skills are a prerequisite
Solid investment presentation preparation skills; comfort building PowerPoint decks is required
Data driven mindset; investment considerations are backed up with data and not simply the narrative
Ability to identify key investment issues, separate fact from opinion, and assist more experienced investors with analyzing facts to shape investment theses and differentiated view
Possess a broad understanding of business models, industry dynamics, and competitive analysis
Strong presentation skills in both small and larger group settings, with the ability to front-load presentations with investment recommendation and distill information to the most salient point
Demonstrate the ability to work closely with a small team as well as more broadly within an organization where information-sharing is critical to the success of all teams across asset classes
Comfort finding solutions to problems independently while knowing when to seek assistance is critical
