01Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Contractor Risk & Surety business and establish scalable underwriting frameworks.
- Assess contractor financial strength, liquidity, execution capability, and project viability.
- Review tender documents, contracts, and bond structures to evaluate guarantee obligations and claim risks.
- Underwrite various surety products including Performance Bonds, Advance Payment Bonds, Bid Bonds, Maintenance Bonds, Retention Bonds, DSRA, Customs, and Arbitration Bonds.
- Develop pricing models, underwriting guidelines, and risk control frameworks.
- Monitor portfolio health through early warning indicators and recommend exposure adjustments.
- Evaluate project cash flows, cost overruns, receivables, working capital, and banking arrangements.
- Build and implement portfolio monitoring mechanisms across contractors, projects, sectors, and employers.
- Engage with contractors, brokers, lenders, and project owners to assess business opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Train and mentor internal teams while building sustainable underwriting capabilities and governance frameworks.
02Requirements
- Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification.
- 1015 years of experience in construction or infrastructure contracting organizations.
- Prior experience as CFO, Finance Controller, Head of Finance, Project Finance Head, Treasury Lead, or Commercial Finance Leader.
- Strong expertise in project finance, contractor risk assessment, and surety underwriting.
- Hands-on experience managing:
1. Project-wise cash flows and profitability
2. Working capital and banking relationships
3. Bank guarantees, collateral, and invocation scenarios
4. Tender and contract evaluation
5. Performance, Advance Payment, Maintenance, and Retention Bonds
6. Cost overruns, receivables, retention money, and stressed projects
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to make independent underwriting decisions and reject high-risk business opportunities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and leadership skills. .
