Job OverviewHitachi Energy is hiring a Test Engineer - GMS in Bengaluru for a full-time onsite position focused on software quality assurance for Generation Management Systems. The role involves planning testing activities, designing functional and non-functional test cases, executing test procedures, investigating defects, and working closely with development teams to improve product quality.The position is suited to an experienced QA professional who can understand engineering requirements and translate them into effective testing strategies. Knowledge of power system applications, energy generation management, and related operational technologies is valuable because the role supports software used in complex energy environments.Key ResponsibilitiesReview business requirements, solution designs, and functional specifications to determine appropriate testing approaches and test data needs.Prepare structured testing strategies and test plans that provide meaningful coverage of business and functional requirements.Design functional and non-functional test scenarios and test cases for software releases and customer-facing projects.Create, maintain, and execute test scripts through suitable test management tools.Track test progress, document results, and communicate testing status to relevant project stakeholders.Identify defects and investigate their behavior using available evidence and reproducible test conditions.Work closely with software developers to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and confirm that corrections meet expected requirements.Communicate product limitations, quality risks, and significant challenges discovered during testing.Build sufficient product and domain knowledge to contribute throughout the software development life cycle.Participate actively in Agile development activities and collaborate with other engineering functions.Support software quality improvement initiatives and help reduce delivery risks.Share testing knowledge and mentor other team members on effective QA practices and proven testing methodologies.Apply Hitachi Energy's principles of safety, integrity, accountability, and collaboration in day-to-day engineering work.Required SkillsCandidates should have strong software quality assurance experience and the ability to create testing approaches from business and technical requirements.
