Our client, a well-established Property & Casualty insurance organization, is seeking a skilled Homeowners Property Underwriting Training & Development Specialist to join their growing organization! This is a newly created role that will support underwriting excellence through quality oversight and training initiatives. This role plays a key part in strengthening underwriting practices, enhancing consistency, and elevating technical knowledge across teams and distribution partners.
The Personal Lines Underwriting Training & Development Specialist will be is responsible for designing and delivering underwriting education material/programs while also evaluating file quality and adherence to internal standards. This role supports both internal underwriting teams and external partners, ensuring alignment with company expectations and improving overall portfolio performance. There's also a high likelihood of promotional opportunities in the not-to-distant future as our client continues their expansion throughout the East Coast and Midwest regions. Please note, this is a fully remote position for candidates residing in NY, NJ, PA, CT, NH or MA.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement structured learning programs for underwriting staff at various experience levels
Create educational materials such as guides, reference tools, and case-based learning content
Facilitate training sessions through multiple delivery methods (virtual, in-person, and self-paced formats)
Ensure training content evolves with changes in products, systems, and underwriting practices
Develop resources that clarify underwriting expectations and requirements
Collaborate with business development teams to identify training opportunities and gaps
Perform detailed reviews of underwriting files to assess adherence to guidelines and internal standards
Evaluate decision-making, documentation, and authority usage
Track and report on quality metrics, training effectiveness, and performance indicators
Provide regular updates and insights to leadership to inform strategy and priorities
Support compliance with internal policies and regulatory expectations
Qualifications
7+years of experience in Property & Casualty underwriting (personal lines, commercial lines, or both)
Well versed in Homeowner Property Underwriting Guidelines is highly desired.
Experience in underwriting audits, quality assurance, or training development preferred
Strong understanding of underwriting workflows, risk evaluation, and authority structures
Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable insights
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
Industry designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM, AIC) are a plus
