Role Summary The Hybrid Virtualization & Private Cloud Engineer is responsible for Implementing, operating, and optimizing enterprise-grade hybrid virtualization platforms across VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), Azure Stack HCI, and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization.
The role supports mission-critical workloads in regulated enterprise environments, ensuring high availability, security, compliance, and operational efficiency across onpremises and hybrid cloud platforms. The engineer will work closely with regional/global infrastructure, cloud, and security teams, as well as OEMs and vendors.
This role operates in the Singapore Time zone.
Key Responsibilities
Deploy and operate VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platforms.
Manage Management Domain and multiple Workload Domains.
Operate and troubleshoot SDDC Manager, vSphere, vCenter, and NSX.
Perform end-to-end VCF lifecycle management (LCM), including:
Host commissioning/decommissioning
Patch management, upgrades, and compliance remediation
Troubleshoot complex issues across compute, storage, and network layers
vSphere & Core Virtualization
Manage VMware ESXi (8.x/9.x) and vCenter Server environments
Configure and optimize HA, DRS, vMotion, Storage vMotion
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and ensure availability
Handle VM provisioning, template/content library, and governance
Azure Stack HCI
Knowledge of Azure HCI is a plus.
Manage HyperV, Failover Clustering, Storage Spaces Direct (S2D).
Integrate Azure Stack HCI with Azure Arc for hybrid management, monitoring, and policy.
Handle lifecycle management tasks.
Infrastructure & Hardware Platforms
Operate and troubleshoot hyperconverged and disaggregated infrastructure such as:
Dell VxRail (HCI)
Dell Power-Flex (SDI)
Dell PowerEdge servers
Coordinate with OEMs for hardware lifecycle, firmware, and break/fix support
Automation & Operations
Develop and maintain automation using:
Power-CLI
REST APIs (VMware, Azure, Red Hat)
Infrastructure-as-Code principles
Integrate platforms with enterprise tools.
Monitoring (VMware Aria Operations, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace etc.)
ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred)
Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and operational documentation
Required Skills & Experience
A bachelors degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
The candidate should have over 10+ years of IT work experience
Strong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, Aria Suite, SRM
Strong ownership, operational discipline, and attention to detail
Automation / DevOps / GitOps mindset
Desired / Good to Have
Experience with: Azure Arc, Azure Backup, Azure Site Recovery
Experience migrating workloads between VMware, Azure Stack, and OpenShift
Exposure to container platforms and Kubernetes operations
Experience supporting APAC regional or global infrastructure environments
Certifications (Preferred)
VMware Certified Professional (VCPDCV)
VMware Cloud Foundation Specialist
Microsoft Azure Stack HCI or Azure Infrastructure certifications
Red Hat OpenShift / Kubernetes certifications
Dell VxRail or PowerFlex certifications
