Position Overview
We are seeking a Scaled Agile Scrum Master. The Scrum Master will be part of a team delivering business capabilities and customer value in alignment with the portfolio strategic roadmap, and is a critical role that facilitates ceremonies for an agile team, arranges daily stand-up meetings, and facilitates/schedules meetings, demo and decision-making processes.
In this role, the individual coaches an agile team and removes impediments by escalating when appropriate, and acts as a trusted partner with the Product Owner, Release Train Engineer and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Servant leader who facilitates and coaches an agile team in Scrum Principles and best practices, depending on line of businessFacilitates ceremonies for the agile team with direction from Sr. Scrum Masters, RTEs, and strong oversight from Agile CoachesArranges daily stand-up meetings, facilitates/schedules meetings, demo and decision-making processes in order to ensure quick inspection and proper use of adaptation process with some oversightEnsures teams adhere to established governance models with oversightServe as a liaison between agile teams and all project stakeholdersProvides information regarding team health (people, process, progress and overall satisfaction) to Technology and Business LeadersWork with product managers and development teams to assure requirements are captured and recorded using agile methodologyUnderstands product planning in an inspect and adapt environment, and ensures the Product Owner prioritizes Product Backlog to maximize value Understands and communicates business value of new workInfluences key members of their Agile team (Product Owner, Software Engineers, etc.) to improve and change behaviors to agile ways of workingApplies conflict resolution practices and principles to promote teamworkTracks and communicates the overall team progress, providing visibility to stakeholders (i.e. Retrospectives, Sprint Planning)Partners with the Product Owner, IT Delivery Lead and Business leadership to form execution delivery plans and manage progressProvides coaching to the Scrum Team(s) on agile principles, servant leadership, and executing Scrum frameworksParticipates in and seeks mentorship from the Scrum Master / RTE CoPAnalyzes the efficiency of the development team through standard metricsHelps with change management activities around agile ways of workingMitigates work blockages, shielding team from outside distractionsAssesses maturity of the agile team and coaches team to higher levelsBuilds a trusted environment where problems can be raised without blame or retribution, with an emphasis on teamwork and problem solvingRequired Skills & Experience:
4 - 6 years of relevant work experience, including digital, technology, or project management fieldsFamiliarity with the insurance industryFamiliarity with agile methodologies and frameworks such as Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.Working knowledge of Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test-driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn-down Metrics, Velocity etc.Experience with agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA) and toolsets such as Agile CentralExperience with Excel, PowerPoint, and MS TeamsStrong collaboration skills, including ability to work with stakeholdersStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability understand audiences and tailor messagesFamiliarity with analyzing data to identify insights and create hypotheses for testingSelf-motivated individual with ability to handle multiple high-priority demands, manage expectations and achieve objectivesAble to handle basic scope, complexity, and metrics monitoring within an agile teamPreferred Qualifications:
