About the role
We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer (SDE 3) to own the architecture and reliability of the systems Bytebeam runs in production. You will design infrastructure that is simple, maintainable, observable, and dependable under real load.
This is a hands-on role across platform architecture, SRE, uptime, incident response, automation, and cloud operations. You will work closely with backend and data engineers to design the infrastructure they build and operate on.
What you'll doOwn infrastructure architecture across environments, regions, networking, deployment, observability, and reliability.Drive SRE practices: uptime targets, alerting, incident response, postmortems, capacity planning, and operational hygiene.Design simple, maintainable infrastructure that engineers can understand, debug, and safely change.Work closely with data engineers to design reliable infrastructure for ingestion, storage, processing, and analytics workloads.Build and maintain infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, containerization, service discovery, secrets, and deployment workflows.Improve production reliability without adding unnecessary platforms, abstractions, or operational burden.Make clear trade-offs across reliability, cost, security, latency, maintainability, and engineering speed.What we're looking forStrong production infrastructure, platform engineering, or SRE experience.Deep comfort with Linux, Docker, networking, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.Production experience with at least one major cloud: GCP, Azure, or AWS.Comfortable writing and reviewing automation or infrastructure tooling in Go and Python.Good networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, routing, firewalls, private networks, and debugging distributed systems.Strong judgment around simplicity and maintainability; you avoid clever infrastructure that the team cannot operate.Experience designing systems with clear uptime, reliability, backup, recovery, and incident-response expectations.Kubernetes experience is useful to apply useful abstractions (But we don't use k8s)Understanding of microVMs or sandboxing technologies such as Firecracker or libkrun is a big plus.Why BytebeamOwn real infrastructure for connected products running in production.Work close to the engineers, data systems, and customer-facing workloads your decisions affect.Small team, high ownership, low tolerance for accidental complexity. .
