Company Description
SnifferBots is a Pune-based IoT hardware company on a mission to stop electrical fires before they start.
Electrical control panels and switchgear are protected against overcurrent, overvoltage, and short-circuits but not against the slow build-up of heat, humidity, and gas that actually causes most panel fires. SnifferBots closes that gap. Our sensing units install inside each feeder compartment, continuously monitor conditions in real time, and can proactively trip a feeder before a fault becomes a fire, with live alerts on a connected app.
We're a small, hands-on team building hardware that gets deployed inside real electrical infrastructure, and we're now developing our next-generation device. If you want to build safety-critical technology that protects people, equipment, and uptime, we'd love to hear from you.
Role Description
SnifferBots builds IoT hardware that detects the early warning signs of electrical fires abnormal heat, humidity, and gas inside control panels and switchgear, and can proactively trip a feeder before a fault becomes a fire. We're building our next-generation device and looking for a hands-on engineer to help take it from prototype to product.
What you'll do
Build and iterate on hardware prototypes (ESP32-based) integrating temperature, humidity, and gas sensorsWrite and maintain firmware in C/C++ (Arduino framework): sensor logic, alarm thresholds, relay control, OTA updates, offline data bufferingIntegrate the device with a cloud database (Firebase) for real-time and historical data loggingBuild automated SMS (MSG91) and email alerts for warning/critical conditionsDebug across the full stack sensors, firmware, and cloud connectivityWork directly with the founder on design decisions and the path to a manufacturable product
What you bring
Solid C/C++ programming; hands-on with the Arduino IDE and ESP32 (or ESP8266/STM32)Practical experience with I2C, SPI, UART, and WiFiBasic electronics skills reading datasheets, breadboard debugging, multimeter useSome exposure to cloud/IoT platforms or REST APIs (Firebase, AWS IoT, ThingsBoard, or similar) academic or personal projects countA degree (or final-year standing) in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Good to have
A personal or academic project combining ESP32/Arduino + sensors + a cloud backend show us what you've builtBasic PCB design exposure (KiCad, EasyEDA, or Eagle)Familiarity with RTOS concepts, MQTT, or BLE
