Junior Engineer Direct Purchase & Sourcing
Role Objective
To manage procurement of direct materials (raw materials, components) required for production, ensuring cost, quality, and timely availability.
Direct Procurement
Handle purchase of raw materials & machine components
Generate and process Purchase Orders (POs)
Ensure materials are available as per production schedules
Vendor Management
Identify and develop new suppliers
Maintain relationships with existing vendors
Evaluate vendors based on:
Cost
Quality
Delivery performance
Sourcing roles typically involve continuous vendor development and negotiation
Costing & Negotiation
Negotiate prices, payment terms, and contracts
Work on cost reduction initiatives
Compare quotations and finalize suppliers
Material Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with:
PPC (Production Planning)
Stores
Quality
Ensure on-time delivery of materials to avoid production delays
Documentation & ERP Handling
Maintain procurement records, RFQs, POs
Work on ERP systems (SAP commonly used)
Track order status, delivery timelines, and inventory .
