Job Description

Role Overview

You will have the opportunity to join a diverse team at Oliver Wyman in various positions ranging from Data Scientist to Director. As a data scientist, your primary role will involve managing and delivering analytics projects, designing analytics solutions, and crafting models that drive scalable high-quality solutions across different industries. You will collaborate with consulting teams and global clients to understand their business challenges and develop innovative analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Engage with Oliver Wyman consulting teams and partners to understand global clients' business challenges - Utilize large-scale data to create models that address core business problems - Assist in shaping proposals that highlight the data science and analytics capabilities of the team - Refine and explain model insights and architecture to guide stakeholders through the model-building process - Promote best practices in modeling and code hygiene - Lead the development of proprietary statistical techniques, ML algorithms, assets, and analytical tools on various projects - Travel to clients' locations worldwide to deliver appropriate solutions in collaboration with them - Stay updated on emerging modeling and data science techniques in your domain

Qualifications Required

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline from a top academic program (Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Informatics, or Engineering) - Prior experience in data science, machine learning, and analytics - Passion for problem-solving through big data and analytics - Pragmatic and methodical approach to solutions with a focus on impact - Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment - Strong presentation skills to convey findings, results, and strategic insights effectively - Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English - Willingness to travel and collaborate as a team player - Respect for confidentiality Additional Details: - Technical Background: - Proficiency in modern programming languages (Python is mandatory; SQL, R, SAS desired) and machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Keras/Theano, Torch, Caffe, MxNet) - Experience in designing and deploying large-scale technical solutions leveraging analytics - Strong foundational knowledge of mathematical and statistical principles in data science - Familiarity with cloud storage, big data handling, and computational frameworks - Valued but not required: Compelling side projects or contributions to the Open-Source community, experience presenting at data science conferences, and interest/background in Financial Services and other key sectors where Oliver Wyman has a strategic presence.
