The Cloud Data Protection (CDP) team is building solutions that help customers protect, manage, and recover their critical workloads across on-premises and cloud environments.
You will join an impactful, fast-moving Cloud Data Protection team and play a crucial role in resolving complex, escalated customer issues as a Sustaining Engineer. As a Member Technical Staff DevEx (CDP) at Nutanix, you will be a vital part of our mission to maintain Nutanixs high industry standard NPS (Net Promoter Score) by providing excellent engineering assistance alongside our Support organization to our valued customers.
What makes this role particularly interesting and unique is the opportunity to troubleshoot and solve complex customer problems across data protection, backup, recovery, replication, disaster recovery, and distributed systems, while gaining deep exposure to the core CDP product and its underlying technologies. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Support, and other cross-functional teams to identify root causes, drive product improvements, and deliver reliable solutions for our customers.
About the Team
The Dev-Extension team (DevEx for short) at Nutanix is a 70+ person team located primarily in the US and India. They play a crucial role in maintaining a high NPS score by solving and root causing challenging customer problems at a code level. The entire company admires their successes, and they have been often recognized in multiple R&D All Hands. Your Role
Work as a part of the extended software development team on Software Features/BugsAddress Customer Escalations to EngineeringDiagnose and debug deep and insidious issues. Provide workaround and fixes for those issuesDevelop automation tools to find bottlenecks and do root cause analysis and corrective actionEngage with customers and support when needed to solve production issuesDevelop a deep understanding of complex distributed systems, and design innovative solutions for customer requirementsDesign and develop tools to improve debuggability of the product and enhance serviceabilityWork closely with SW Development, QA, Documentation and Product Management teams apart from other DevEx teams to deliver high-quality products in a fast-paced environmentProgram in Linux environment and employ robust software engineering practices to develop and maintain reliable, field-serviceable, and maintainable software componentsWhat You Will Bring
Bachelors in Computer Science with 4+ yrs of industry experience OR Masters in Computer ScienceLove of programming and rock-solid experience in one or more languages: C, C++, Python or Golang, ideally for enterprise-quality softwareExtensive knowledge of UNIX/Linux or expertise in WindowsDevelopment experience in file systems, operating systems, hypervisors, networking, distributed systems managementExperience working with virtualization technologies like Linux KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen (KVM and VMware preferred)Knowledge of building micro-service-based applications.Familiarity with OS internals, concepts of distributed data management, and design/implementation tradeoffs in building clustered, high- performance, fault-tolerant distributed systems softwareStrong written, verbal, and collaboration skillsTeam player that works well in fast-paced situations and startup environmentsGood to have
Working knowledge of Data Protection technologies like Disaster Recovery and Backup.Experience developing software for containerized platforms like Kubernetes.Experience with working with applications within hyperscalers including AWS, Azure or GCP.Good understanding of Kubernetes Custom Resource and controller development.Good understanding of Cloud Native Storage technologies, including Disaster Recovery and Backup.Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
