This role offers the opportunity to lead a specialized underwriting quality function at the intersection of mortgage lending, AI, and fintech. You will manage a team responsible for validating the accuracy and guideline compliance of AI-powered underwriting outputs. By reviewing representative production loan samples, you will identify quality trends, recurring issues, and opportunities to strengthen automated lending decisions. Your expertise will directly influence product improvements by translating complex underwriting findings into actionable insights for Product, Engineering, and Machine Learning teams. The role combines people leadership, deep mortgage expertise, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Accountabilities
Lead and develop a high-performing team of mortgage underwriters responsible for quality assurance of AI-powered mortgage underwriting products.
Hire, onboard, coach, and manage team performance while creating a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and career development.
Manage workforce planning, capacity, and quality coverage to ensure representative daily loan sampling and consistent analysis.
Serve as the senior mortgage underwriting subject matter expert for the quality assurance team, providing guidance on complex underwriting scenarios and decisions.
Oversee daily reviews of representative production loan files to validate the accuracy, consistency, and guideline compliance of automated underwriting outputs.
Establish and maintain consistency in QA scoring, documentation, review standards, and root cause analysis across the team.
Identify recurring defects, quality trends .
