What you'll do
With a fine blend of hands-on and hands-off engineering, youll coordinate, support and guide your teams to design and engineer software, scripts and tools that are customer centric, high performing, secure and robust. And with a sharp focus on opportunities for automation, youll create efficiency where it doesnt already exist by exploring and anticipating the impact of strategic challenges, and developing the proposed strategy, architecture and roadmap to drive them forward.
Youll also be responsible for:
Developing and executing a cohesive strategy that aligns product, design and business priorities, and converting these into technological solutionsEmpowering and enabling your teams to grow by facilitating discussions, sharing insights, driving collaboration, and guiding the direction of workWorking with software engineers to prototype innovative ideas, and engaging with our architects to validate and leverage them across the bankDeveloping design patterns, advocating our design principles and methodologies, and signposting the latest trends, technologies and toolsEnhancing our software engineering capability and inspiring our community of engineers to fulfil their potential by facilitating internal mobility, shaping career paths and coaching talent
The skills you'll need
As a senior engineer, youll bring a wealth of practical experience and technical knowledge to this role. From knowledge of our applications, interfaces, services and platforms, to hands-on experience developing and implementing deployment patterns, application tooling and legacy and industry-leading technologies, youll have the knowledge, skills and insights to support and guide your teams to engineer innovative, value-adding solutions.
And, by harnessing your ability to engage and rally people around a tech cause, youll enable success at both a team and executive level and make a long-lasting impact through your work.
You'll demonstrate:
Extensive technology leadership experience leading large-scale engineering organisationsStrong knowledge of cloud technologies, DevSecOps, platform engineering, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability, software architecture, and engineering governanceDeep hands-on expertise in modern software engineering and enterprise technology platformsProven experience defining and implementing engineering strategies across multiple product or platform teamsExperience driving engineering transformation through automation, simplification, standardisation, and AI-enabled software developmentSignificant experience of leading software development teams, executing strategies and implementing programming best practiceExpertise in multiple high-level programming languages .
