The Cost Accountant II will support cost accounting activities across multiple business portfolios, ensuring operational continuity and technical accounting expertise.ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly and quarterly financial close analysis and entries for assigned business units (e.g. inventory reserves, cost variances, balance sheet reconciliations) under strict deadlinesAnalyze inventory costs and provide updated standard costs updates to Inventory ControllerReconcile monthly inventory for each assigned siteAnalyze inventory activity by location and generate accruals as neededGather and consolidate monthly inventory data analyticsManage annual inventory count process at assigned sites including final reconciliation of resultsVarious inventory analyses as neededSupport SOX inventory controls and requirements for assigned areasEnsure compliance with all Charles River inventory policies for assigned areasPerform all other related duties and/or special projects as assignedSkillsAssociates/Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Finance/Accounting3-5 years or more experience working in cost accountant/accounting/analyst positionsAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed aboveExcellent spreadsheet skills required5% travel may be needed for year-end auditSAP experience preferredBenefitsBonus/incentives based on performance401KPaid time offStock purchase programHealth and wellness coverageEmployee and family wellbeing support programsWork life balance flexibilityCompany OverviewAt Charles River, we are guided by our strong purposeto create healthier liveswhich centers around the patients who rely on the therapeutics we help to develop, the animals in our care, to our planet, and to the passionate and skilled people who are at the heart of our organization and make it all possible.
