Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Symetra Investment Management is seeking a Corporate Fixed Income Credit Analyst to join their team in Farmington, CT. The role involves performing fundamental credit analysis and developing investment recommendations to drive portfolio performance, while collaborating with Portfolio Managers and Traders.ResponsibilitiesPerform fundamental credit analysis on IG corporate issuers within an assigned sector coverage universe, including financial modeling, capital structure analysis, covenant review, and ESG/event risk assessmentFormulate and defend investment recommendations supported by a clearly articulated thesis, robust financial analysis, and scenario evaluationsEvaluate relative value across the curve, capital structure, and peer group, surface actionable trade ideas to Portfolio Managers and TradersParticipate actively in the new issue process, including reading prospectuses, assessing value, and providing real-time recommendations on primary market participationConduct ongoing surveillance of covered names, including earnings analysis, rating agency action, M&A and event-driven catalysts, and emerging credit risks (regulatory, secular, AI-driven disruption, etc.)Present credits at portfolio reviews and team meetings; produce concise, decision-ready written researchMaintain coverage models, comp sets, and surveillance dashboards and continuously look for ways to automate the repetitive parts so your time goes to analysis and judgmentCollaborate with Portfolio Managers, Traders, and the broader Symetra investment department on portfolio construction, risk management, and client-facing materialsSkillsBachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or a related field3+ years of corporate credit research experience on the buy side or sell sideDemonstrated ability to support an investment thesis with both quantitative and qualitative evidence, and to communicate it with conviction in writing and in personComfort with uncertainty and the willingness to make recommendations that are well-reasoned but inherently incompleteStrong fundamental analysis toolkit: financial statement analysis, cash flow modeling, capital structure, covenant analysis, and relative value frameworksProficiency with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, a high level of initiative, and a get it done work ethic that supports working under occasional inflexible deadlinesAbility to work cooperatively within a small team environment while interacting effectively with a broader group of investment professionalsHigh school diploma requiredEmployer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this roleApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with our companyMBA and/or CFA designation (or meaningful progress toward CFA)Experience covering multiple sectorsFamiliarity with Power BIPrior hands-on AI experience is a plus but not a requirementCuriosity to use AI tools, willingness to experiment, and instinct to automate workflows and enhance the investment processBenefitsFlexible full-time or hybrid telecommuting arrangementsPlan for your future with our 401(k) plan and take advantage of immediate vesting and company matching up to 6%Paid time away including vacation and sick time, flex days and ten paid holidaysGive back to your community and double your impact through our company matchingWant more details Check out our Symetra Benefits OverviewCompany OverviewSymetra is a financial service company that provides retirement, employee benefits, group life, and disability insurance.
