Coinbase is a company dedicated to increasing economic freedom and is seeking a Senior Accountant for their Capital Markets Accounting team. This role involves owning the accounting and regulatory reporting for registered Futures Commission Merchant and Broker-Dealer entities, ensuring financial integrity and compliance as the company scales.
ResponsibilitiesOwn the monthly close for Coinbase's FCM and Broker-Dealer entities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and quarterly and annual reportingPrepare and submit regulatory filings to the CFTC, NFA, and other applicable regulators, ensuring accuracy and timely execution of daily, monthly, and annual reporting requirementsLead internal and external audits for the FCM and Broker-Dealer entities, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders and driving successful audit outcomesDesign, execute, and enhance internal controls over accounting, regulatory reporting, and compliance processesPartner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, and Compliance to support new product launches and evolving business initiatives, ensuring accounting and regulatory readiness from day oneMonitor regulatory capital and liquidity requirements, proactively identifying and escalating risks while helping strengthen operational processesIdentify opportunities to improve accounting operations through automation, scalable processes, and thoughtful use of technologySkills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field with an active CPA license57 years of experience in public accounting and/or industry experience supporting Broker-Dealer, FCM, or other regulated financial services organizationsExperience with regulatory reporting, financial close, audits, and internal controls within a regulated environmentKnowledge of FINRA/SEC Broker-Dealer regulations, CFTC/NFA requirements for registered FCMs, and accounting guidance including ASC 815 (Derivatives and Hedging) and 17 CFR 1.20Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environmentAvailability to work Eastern Time hours to support daily regulatory filing deadlinesExperience using generative AI responsibly to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining appropriate human oversight and high-quality outputsBig Four experienceBenefitsEquity and bonus eligibilityBenefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k))Company Overview
