They are seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design and build core systems that manage data models, funds flows, and integrations, ensuring the reliability of healthcare benefits at scale.ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and evolve backend systems that support enrollments, payments, payroll, and benefits managementArchitect and maintain robust data models and fund flows that handle large volumes of financial transactionsBuild integrations with payroll providers, banks, insurance carriers, and other external partnersImprove operational rigor through automation, tooling, monitoring, and observabilityPartner closely with product, operations, and other engineers to solve complex business problemsTake ownership of production systems, including reliability, debugging, and long-term maintainabilitySkillsExperience building and maintaining backend systems in a production environmentA track record of shipping systems with complex business and operational implicationsStrong ability to reason about data models, workflows, and edge casesComfort operating in ambiguous problem spaces with cross-functional tradeoffsExperience mentoring other engineers or setting technical directionWork in healthcare, finance, or other complex or regulated domainsExperience with HR, payroll, payments, or partner-facing systemsOwnership of systems with real operational or financial impactCompany OverviewThatch is a health benefits platform that lets businesses offer flexible healthcare through a monthly allowance and curated health services.
