They are seeking a driven and curious Senior Actuarial Analyst who will contribute directly to pricing decisions across multiple business lines while developing leadership skills through mentoring and collaboration.ResponsibilitiesDesign and enhance actuarial pricing models, tools, and methodologies to support informed underwriting decisionsPerform account- and portfolio-level pricing analyses using actuarial techniques, rating plans, and loss experienceinitially focused on Casualty, with opportunities to expand into other linesPartner with Underwriting, Finance, Claims, and Reinsurance teams to evaluate programs, structure deals, and analyze portfoliosdelivering clear insights and recommendations to stakeholdersLead special initiatives such as onboarding new programs, improving models, and conducting ad hoc portfolio analyses to ensure rate adequacy and operational efficiencyMentor junior analysts by sharing expertise, reviewing work, and supporting their development through the actuarial student programContribute to monitoring portfolio performance, profitability, and emerging trends to inform business decisions and product strategiesSkillsTypically 58 years of experience in an actuarial role with a focus on pricingStrong understanding of actuarial pricing techniques and data analytics within the property & casualty industryProficiency in SQL and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations effectively to cross-functional teamsDemonstrated interest in mentoring and contributing to process improvement and innovationDemonstrable track record of working autonomously and driving progressBe intellectually curious, think creatively, and pragmaticACAS or FCAS designation preferredFamiliarity with programming languages such as Python, VBA, or R is a plusBenefitsFull Suite of Medical BenefitsLong Term Financial Incentives STOCK!401k with 3.5% Automatic Fully Vested Employer ContributionsCompetitive PTO + Holiday ProgramLifestyle Spending AccountProfessional Development AssistanceCareer Exploration OpportunitiesRegular company-wide social events (even virtually!)Company OverviewPalomar is an insurance company that offers residential and commercial products for natural disasters.
