01Responsibilities
Accounting Function
- Analyze income statement and expense accounts for significant budget or month over month variances
- Review balance sheet accounts for material variances
- Perform complex account reconciliations, including inter company accounts
- Support month end close activities, including fixed asset capitalization/disposals, suspense clearing, and maintaining accruals and prepayments
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist with Stats Canada reporting and variance commentary for EVPs
- Support preparation of income tax return schedules (partnership and corporate)
- Potentially assist with indirect tax filings, based on experience
- Prepare documentation for auditors
Treasury Function
- Accurately record and post daily cash receipts in the internal system
- Record daily bank transactions and maintain up to date bank balances
- Save required emails and supporting documents in PDF format as part of daily workflows
- Complete monthly reconciliations for all banks accounts
Requirements
Qualification:
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Experience with Agresso/Unit4 is an asset
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, including financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and reconciliations
- Treasury experience in accounts receivable and banking is an asset
- Experience of working for US/Canadian firms with exposure to US/Canadian accounting processes
- Exposure to Canadian Accounting Standards (ASPE, IFRS among others) or US GAAP preferred
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor/Masters in Commerce, Article ship experience would be an added advantage
Certification
- Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for pursuing a CA/CPA designation, or Masters or Diploma in Business Administration or Accounting is preferred but not necessary .
