Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will support the financial operations of the Korea business while being based in Tokyo. This role will work closely with the Korea Finance Manager, operational teams, and external service providers to ensure accurate accounting, timely financial reporting, compliance with local requirements, and alignment with Group policies.
The role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial reporting and analysis, making it well-suited for a finance professional with strong accounting knowledge and experience working in a multinational environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
Review vendor invoices and ensure proper coding and approval.Process accounts payable transactions and coordinate vendor payments.Prepare and issue customer invoices.Monitor collections and follow up on outstanding receivables.Record cash receipts and reconcile customer accounts.Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.Month End Closing and Financial Reporting
Prepare month-end journal entries and supporting schedules.Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports for submission to the Group Finance team.Analyze financial results and provide explanations for significant variances.Support month-end and year-end closing activities for the Korea operation.Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes as required.Cashflow Management and Banking
Perform bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items.Update cash flow forecasts using actual and projected transactions.Support day-to-day banking activities for the Korea operation.Assist the Finance Manager in monitoring cash positions and liquidity requirements.Payroll, Tax, and Statutory Compliance
Liaise with external payroll, accounting, and tax service providers in Korea.Support payroll processing and statutory filings.Assist in preparing information required for tax filings and regulatory reporting.Support annual audits and statutory financial reporting requirements.Maintain accounting records in compliance with Korean regulations and Group policies.Revenue Recognition and Project Accounting
Review project fee schedules, costs, and budgets to support revenue accrual and deferral calculations.Prepare revenue recognition schedules in accordance with Company policies.Support project profitability reporting and analysis.Work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate project accounting.General Finance and Accounting
Prepare accruals, prepayments, and other adjusting journal entries.Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.Support implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.Identify process improvement opportunities and assist with strengthening internal controls.Support the Korea Finance Manager in ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies.Perform ad hoc accounting, finance, and administrative tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.36 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.Experience in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end closing.Good understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.Experience working with accounting or ERP systems.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.Professional proficiency in English.Native-level Korean proficiency.Business-level proficiency in Japanese.Preferred Skills
KICPA, FAT, TAT, CPA, ACCA, or another relevant accounting .
