Role Overview
As a Senior DevOps Engineer specializing in enterprise virtualization and having secondary expertise in Red Hat OpenShift, your main responsibility will be to design, automate, and operate large-scale virtualized environments that support mission-critical banking applications. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of the server infrastructure for BNP Paribas' regional operations in India. Your technical proficiency in Python, Terraform, and experience in regulated financial services will be essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate large scale virtualized environments such as VMware vSphere, KVM, Hyper V, or Nutanix to meet banking grade performance, availability, and security requirements.
- Automate provisioning, scaling, patching, and disaster recovery of VMs and associated networking/storage using Terraform and custom Python tooling.
- Deploy and maintain OpenShift clusters for containerized workloads, integrating them seamlessly with the underlying virtualized fabric.
- Create and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo CD, Tekton) to deliver VM-based and container-based services with zero downtime releases.
- Implement security and compliance controls (PCI DSS, ISO 27001, RBI/CBI) via policy as code, role-based access, network segmentation, and automated vulnerability scanning.
- Develop an observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki/Elastic, Jaeger) to monitor VM health, OpenShift clusters, and application performance; drive RCA and continuous improvement.
Qualifications Required
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified Specialist OpenShift Administration.
- VMware Certified Professional Data Center Virtualization (VCP DCV).
- 8-10 years of production experience with VMware vSphere (vCenter, NSX) or equivalent (KVM, Hyper V, Nutanix); deep knowledge of compute, storage, and network virtualization.
- Practical experience deploying and managing OpenShift clusters.
- Strong Terraform proficiency and solid Python programming (3.x) for API automation, custom CLI tools, and testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with GitLab CI/Jenkins and at least one GitOps tool (Argo CD, Tekton).
- Experience with Prometheus/Grafana, log aggregation (Loki/Elastic), and distributed tracing (Jaeger/Zipkin).
- Direct experience delivering infrastructure solutions for banks or other highly regulated financial institutions; familiarity with PCI DSS, RBI/CBI, ISO 27001, or similar frameworks.
