Role Overview
As a DWH / ETL Developer for our client, an EU subsidiary of a Global Financial Bank, you will collaborate closely with the Development Lead to design, build interfaces, and integrate data from a variety of internal and external sources into the recent Enterprise Data Warehouse environment. Your primary responsibility will be developing ETL processes utilizing Microsoft & Azure technologies while adhering to industry-recognized standards, architecture, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical expert in designing, coding, unit testing, supporting, and debugging data warehouse software components throughout the SDLC.
- Apply cloud and ETL engineering skills to devise solutions and design approaches.
- Troubleshoot and debug ETL pipelines, creating unit tests for them.
- Evaluate query performance and actively contribute to code optimization.
- Draft technical documentation and specifications.
- Assist internal audit by providing necessary evidence.
- Generate reports and dashboards in the BI portal.
- Collaborate with the Development Lead, DWH Architect, and QA Engineers to strategize, implement, and deliver optimal ETL strategies.
- Work with business analysts to comprehend requirements and create technical design specifications, ensuring integration processes meet end-user needs.
- Communicate effectively within a collaborative, high-performing team environment following Agile principles.
Qualifications Required
- Proven work experience as an ETL Developer.
- Proficiency in SQL Server, SSIS, and SSMS.
- Advanced understanding of relational databases and dimensional Data Warehouse modeling concepts.
- Solid grasp of physical and logical data modeling.
- Knowledge of modern SaaS/PaaS data solutions with a cost-conscious approach.
- Expertise in the Microsoft Data stack.
- Experience in developing and deploying data-oriented solutions in Cloud platforms like Azure, Synapse Analytics, or Fabric.
- Proficiency in designing and implementing data transformation and ETL layers using tools like Data Factory and Notebooks.
- Familiarity with PowerBI for report and dashboard creation, with knowledge of Power Query and/or DAX being advantageous.
- Experience or understanding of Azure Data Lake Storage.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and principles, preferably Azure DevOps or Bamboo.
- Strong SQL knowledge with the ability to create complex queries and understand stored procedures, views, indexes, functions, etc.
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language, with Python skills considered a plus.
- Experience with GIT repositories, branch management, and tools like GitHub, Azure DevOps, or Bitbucket.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems.
- Sound understanding of software development best practices.
- Experience in Agile projects, preferably using JIRA.
- Previous involvement in high-priority projects, preferably with greenfield project experience.
- Clear and concise communication of complex information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
- Understanding of data governance and enterprise concepts, particularly in a banking environment.
