Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Microservices Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Microservices, AWS, distributed systems, and payment technologies.
The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience designing and developing scalable backend systems using Java and Spring Boot, along with strong knowledge of AWS cloud services and modern microservices architectures. A strong understanding of the payments domain, particularly ACH, RTP, Zelle, SWIFT, and Federal Reserve (FED) payment systems, is highly important for this role.
The candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering highly available, secure, resilient, and scalable payment solutions while working closely with architects, product teams, security, DevOps, and other engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Java & Microservices Development
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.Build and enhance cloud-native microservices supporting high-volume payment processing.Develop secure and resilient RESTful APIs and service integrations.Apply strong object-oriented design, design patterns, clean coding practices, and SOLID principles.Develop highly maintainable, testable, and production-ready code.Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other engineers.Troubleshoot complex application and production issues.Continuously improve application performance, scalability, and maintainability.Payments Domain
Design and develop solutions supporting payment processing and financial transaction workflows.Demonstrate strong understanding of payment rails and financial messaging, including:ACHRTP (Real-Time Payments)ZelleSWIFTFederal Reserve / FED payment systemsUnderstand payment transaction lifecycles, processing flows, settlement, clearing, routing, and exception handling.Work with payment-related business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.Understand transaction status, acknowledgements, reversals, retries, reconciliation, and error-handling scenarios.Design systems capable of processing high-volume and time-sensitive financial transactions.Ensure payment applications meet appropriate reliability, security, and compliance expectations.System Design & Distributed Systems

Design systems with high availability and strong operational resilience.Implement fault-tolerant application and infrastructure patterns.Develop appropriate retry, timeout, circuit-breaker, and fallback mechanisms.Design for disaster recovery and business continuity requirements.Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.Analyze production incidents and conduct root cause analysis.Drive continuous improvements to system reliability and operational performance.API & Integration
Design and develop RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations.Integrate microservices with payment platforms and enterprise systems.Work with synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns.Handle JSON/XML and other financial data formats .
