Role & responsibilities
- Lead underwriting assessment and pricing for Group Mediclaim, GTL, GPA, and ancillary EB products across corporate and SME segments.
- Evaluate risk, analyse claims experience (loss ratios, utilisation trends, IBNR), and recommend appropriate terms, deductibles, and exclusions.
- Liaise with insurers for quote negotiation, placement, and renewal management to secure best-fit solutions for clients.
- Review and interpret insurer wordings, policy terms, and endorsements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurer underwriting desks to enable competitive positioning.
- Partner with the sales team during pre-sales technical discussions, client presentations, and RFP/tender responses.
- Mentor and guide junior underwriters and underwriting support staff.
- Track portfolio performance and provide regular MIS loss ratio trends, renewal hit rates, and premium movement.
- Stay updated on IRDAI regulations, circular changes, and market developments impacting EB products.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5-12 years of experience in EB underwriting within a general insurance company or insurance broking firm
- Robust command over some sales orientation, Group Health, GTL, and GPA underwriting principles and pricing. .
