Role Summary
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Migration Engineer with strong experience migrating large-scale VMware workloads from on-premises data centers to Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2) on AWS. The role will lead discovery, planning, migration execution, cutover, validation, and troubleshooting within a structured Migration Factory supporting hundreds to thousands of virtual machines.
Key Responsibilities
Assess VMware environments using Nutanix Collector and define target sizing using Nutanix Sizer.
Evaluate workload compatibility, dependencies, risks, remediation needs, and infrastructure readiness.
Define migration waves based on application dependencies, business criticality, maintenance windows, and recovery objectives.
Create migration runbooks, cutover plans, validation procedures, and rollback strategies.
Deploy and configure Nutanix NC2 on AWS, including networking, routing, DNS, security, IAM, connectivity, and storage.
Execute VMware-to-NC2 migrations using Nutanix Move, from pilot through large-scale rollout.
Coordinate parallel migration waves across application, infrastructure, cloud, network, security, and project teams.
Manage production cutovers, DNS updates, post-migration validation, business acceptance, hypercare, and rollback when required.
Troubleshoot replication, synchronization, performance, connectivity, storage, operating system, and application issues.
Maintain migration documentation, dashboards, risk registers, status reports, metrics, and lessons learned.
Improve migration throughput, automation, standardization, governance, and overall Migration Factory efficiency.
Mandatory Skills Required
8 to 15 years of IT infrastructure experience, including at least 5 years in cloud migration. Proven experience delivering enterprise VMware migrations involving hundreds to thousands of virtual machines.
Hands-on experience working in a wave-based, high-volume Migration Factory.
Strong expertise in Nutanix NC2, Prism Central, Prism Element, Move, Collector, Sizer, AHV, networking, and storage.
Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, networking, datastores, resource clusters, DRS, HA, snapshots, and VM lifecycle management.
Strong AWS knowledge, including EC2, VPC, IAM, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, EBS, S3, Route 53, AWS Backup, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager, and KMS.
Experience with Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu, and SUSE Linux.
Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancing.
Experience in migration planning, cutover, validation, rollback, troubleshooting, documentation, governance, and stakeholder coordination.
Nice to Have Skills
Automation and scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Infrastructure automation experience using Terraform or Ansible.
Experience automating migration discovery, validation, reporting, and health checks.
Exposure to architecture reviews, technical design workshops, and cloud governance.
