Key Responsibilities
- Lead customer-facing solution architecture, pre-sales, workshops, PoCs, and technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders.
- Design scalable Databricks Lakehouse architectures covering ingestion, transformation, governance, analytics, ML, and GenAI.
- Lead EDW modernization and migration initiatives from platforms such as Teradata, Oracle, Netezza, SAS, Greenplum, Synapse, Snowflake, and Hadoop.
- Architect and guide adoption of Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, Lakeflow Connect, Serverless Compute, Unity Catalog, Databricks SQL, AI/BI, and Genie.
- Develop migration roadmaps, HLD/LLD, reference architectures, runbooks, cost models, and executive-level presentations.
- Drive best practices around performance, security, governance, DR, CI/CD, and cost optimization.
- Partner with sales, delivery, and field teams on proposals, SoWs, and solutioning activities.
- Mentor data engineers, platform engineers, and junior architects.
Required Skills
- 8+ years in data engineering/data platform architecture with 3+ years of Databricks experience.
- Databricks certification: Data Engineer Professional, Machine Learning Professional, or Solutions Architect Qualified.
- Strong knowledge of Databricks Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, Spark, Photon, and performance tuning.
- Expertise in Unity Catalog, including metastores, catalogs, schemas, volumes, external locations, and storage credentials.
- Hands-on knowledge of Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines, Lakeflow Connect, Serverless workloads, Databricks SQL, and Databricks Asset Bundles.
- Strong SQL and PySpark skills with the ability to interpret Spark execution plans.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including networking, IAM, and cloud storage such as S3, ADLS Gen2, or GCS.
- Experience with EDW/Lakehouse migrations, DR architecture, RPO/RTO, and Delta Deep Clone.
- Knowledge of Terraform, CI/CD, MLOps, MLflow, Model Serving, Vector Search, and Mosaic AI.
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder management skills, including C-suite interactions.
- Willingness to travel and work overseas for solutioning and delivery engagements.
Good To Have Skills
- Experience with Informatica, ODI, SAS DI, DataStage, Talend, dbt, and Auto Loader.
- Knowledge of Immuta, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, or Alation.
- Experience with GenAI and AI Agent patterns on Databricks.
- Industry expertise in BFSI, Insurance, Retail, Manufacturing, or Healthcare.
- Experience leading large-scale enterprise modernization programs and mentoring architecture teams. .
