Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite new and renewal property and casualty insurance applications
- Determine appropriate policy terms, conditions, and pricing for profitable outcomes
- Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and agents
- Review inspection reports, loss runs, and financial statements
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Identify opportunities for risk mitigation and provide recommendations
- Collaborate with claims, legal, and actuarial departments
- Contribute to the development of underwriting tools and strategies
- Mentor and train junior underwriters
- Stay informed about industry trends, market changes, and emerging risks
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- Minimum of 5-7 years of underwriting experience in Property & Casualty insurance
- Strong understanding of P&C insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment techniques
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in underwriting software and rating tools
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage a portfolio of risks effectively
- Relevant professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU) are highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing market conditions and regulatory environments
