Role Description The Shift Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based at the Gandhidham terminal. The Shift Engineer oversees daily terminal operations during assigned shifts, including monitoring storage tanks, pipelines, loading and unloading activities, and related equipment to ensure safe and efficient functioning. Responsibilities include coordinating with operations and maintenance teams, supervising field personnel, and enforcing safety procedures and regulatory compliance at all times. The role involves responding to operational issues, conducting routine inspections, logging shift activities, and preparing reports on equipment performance, incidents, and process deviations. The Shift Engineer also supports preventive maintenance planning, participates in emergency drills, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives in reliability, productivity, and safety. Qualifications Strong technical knowledge in mechanical, chemical, or industrial engineering relevant to terminal, refinery, or process plant operations. Experience in shift-based operations, including monitoring field activities, coordinating with operations and maintenance teams, and managing on-site resources. Understanding of safety standards, process safety, and regulatory compliance in bulk liquid or gas storage and handling environments. Ability to interpret technical documents such as P&IDs, standard operating procedures, maintenance records, and operational reports. Effective communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders and supervise on-site personnel. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities for handling operational upsets, emergencies, and time-critical situations. Proficiency in using basic computer applications and terminal management or SCADA-type systems for data entry, reporting, and monitoring. Bachelors degree or diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related discipline) from a recognized institution. Prior experience in terminal operations, oil and gas, petrochemicals, or related process industries is preferred.
