We're hiring a Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting for our business. This is a hands-on role for someone who's grown beyond pure bookkeeping and can confidently close the books, run payroll, and produce financial reports leadership can use to make decisions. Not in need of a CPA but we are looking for someone accurate, organized, and comfortable working independently. Lobo Logistics is a small oil field focused trucking and logistics company with a concise scope of work.
You'll partner closely with ownership and operation management, and your work will directly inform how we plan, execute, and grow.
This position will be primarily remote/work from home with initial in person on boarding and regular scheduled KPI meetings.
What you'll do
Own full-cycle bookkeeping: AP, AR, bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close
Run payroll on schedule, deductions, garnishments, and payroll tax filings
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Analyze P&L results flag variances, trends, and opportunities; build simple reports for management review
Maintain clean, audit-ready records and support our outside CPA at year-end / tax time
Track fixed assets, prepaid expenses, and accruals
Help with light budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and ad-hoc financial analysis
Look for ways to improve our accounting processes and controls
What we're looking for
Required
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
QuickBooks proficiency (Online and/or Desktop) this is non-negotiable
Hands-on experience running payroll in a modern payroll system (ADP)
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas)
Solid grasp of GAAP fundamentals and month-end close mechanics
Excellent attention to detail and organizational habits
Ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines without hand-holding
Clear written and verbal communication
Nice to have
Experience in logistics, trucking, or transportation familiarity with fuel, IFTA, driver settlements, per diems, owner-operator vs. company driver pay
Certifications such as Certified Bookkeeper (CB), QuickBooks ProAdvisor, or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
Experience working alongside an external CPA at tax time
