Team Lead - Backend

Lead the design and development of scalable backend systems using Java (8+).Drive architecture discussions and make high-impact technical decisions.Ensure best practices in coding, performance optimisation, and security.Conduct code reviews and enforce quality standards.Troubleshoot complex production issues.Lead and manage a team of backend engineers.Mentor junior and mid-level developers.Conduct regular 1:1s and performance feedback sessions.Drive technical upskilling within the team.Foster a collaborative and high-performance engineering culture.Work closely with Product Managers, QA, DevOps, and Frontend teams.Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and backlog grooming.Ensure timely and high-quality deliverables.Improve development processes and engineering efficiency.

8+ years of hands-on experience in backend development.Strong expertise in Java (8 or above).Extensive experience with Spring Boot / Spring Framework.Experience building RESTful APIs and Microservices.Strong understanding of OOP, design patterns, and system design.Experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimisation.Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB/Redis) - preferred.Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).Proven experience in team leading and mentoring engineers (Mandatory).Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of event-driven architecture (Kafka/RabbitMQ).Experience with caching strategies and performance tuning.Exposure to distributed systems and scalability challenges.Strong ownership and accountability.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to balance hands-on coding with leadership responsibilities.Problem-solving mindset with a bias for action.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. .
