Title Insurance Trainer / Subject Matter Expert (SME)

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Title Insurance Trainer/SME to lead training, documentation for Automation and define quality standards for our title search and examination solutions. This role combines hands-on subject-matter expertise with the ability to document, teach, mentor, and elevate our overall automation solutions, plus ongoing ownership of quality control and audit of examiner work. The ideal candidate has deep, practical experience running full title searches and examinations and has previously led or trained a team.
Any experience with working on a technology or automation solutions will be preferable.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deliver, and continuously improve training programs for new and existing title search/examination staff
Serve as the go-to SME for complex title search and examination questions, chain-of-title issues, and curative requirements
Conduct onboarding training for new examiners and ongoing refresher/upskilling sessions for the existing team
Own ongoing quality control (QC) and audit of examiner work product, including sampling, scoring, and error tracking against underwriting guidelines
Provide individualized coaching and feedback based on QC findings; escalate recurring or high-risk error patterns to leadership
Develop and maintain training materials, job aids, SOPs, QC checklists, and reference guides for title search and examination processes
Track quality, accuracy, and turnaround-time metrics; identify skill gaps and build targeted training to close them
Stay current on state-specific title requirements, underwriting guidelines, and industry/regulatory changes, and translate those into training and QC standards
Partner with operations leadership to standardize examination processes, reduce errors/rework, and report on quality trends
Mentor team leads and high-potential examiners to build a bench of future leaders
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in title search and examination, with demonstrated full search experience (not just exam review)
Strong working knowledge of chain of title, liens, judgments, easements, encumbrances, and curative processes
Prior experience as a trainer, team lead, or supervisor within title search/examination
Experience conducting quality audits/QC reviews of title work, with a strong eye for accuracy and risk
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to explain complex title issues clearly to varying experience levels
Detail-oriented with a strong quality/accuracy mindset
Comfortable creating training materials, QC checklists, and documentation (SOPs, guides, presentations)
Preferred Qualifications
Multi-state title search/examination experience
Experience with title production software (e.g., Qualia, SoftPro, ResWare) and comfortable training others on system workflows
Familiarity with underwriting guidelines from major title underwriters
Experience building formal training curricula, QC scorecards, or certification programs .
