01Overview
Review and underwrite residential mortgage loan files, primarily Non-QM loans, in accordance with investor and company guidelines.Perform comprehensive analysis of the 4 Cs of credit:CreditCapacityCollateralCapitalConduct detailed income calculations and verification for:Salaried/W-2 borrowersSelf-employed borrowersRental incomeOther eligible income sourcesAnalyze credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, bank statements, and supporting documentation.Evaluate loan applications and determine borrower eligibility based on underwriting guidelines.Exercise authority to make final underwriting decisions on loan files within assigned approval limits.Identify, assess, and document compensating factors and credit exceptions where applicable.Ensure adherence to underwriting policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards.Maintain high levels of accuracy, productivity, and turnaround times while meeting service level agreements.Communicate underwriting decisions, conditions, and recommendations clearly to internal stakeholders.Stay current with industry regulations, underwriting guidelines, and market trends.Support quality control and audit processes as required.Required QualificationsEducationBachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related field preferred.ExperienceMinimum 5 years of experience in US Mortgage Underwriting.Proven experience underwriting Non-QM mortgage loans.Demonstrated ability to make final underwriting decisions independently.Strong experience reviewing and analyzing complex income scenarios and credit profiles.Technical KnowledgeStrong understanding of:Non-QM underwriting guidelinesConventional mortgage underwritingCredit exception frameworksCompensating factors assessmentThorough knowledge of:RESPA (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act)TRID (TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure)FHA guidelinesVA guidelinesUSDA guidelinesExpertise in income calculation and financial analysis for various borrower profiles.Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities.Excellent decision-making and judgment skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.Proficiency in mortgage origination and underwriting systems.Preferred QualificationsExperience working with US mortgage lenders, banks, or mortgage servicing companies.Exposure to agency and non-agency loan products.Familiarity with mortgage LOS platforms and automated underwriting systems.Additional RequirementsComfortable working permanent night shifts aligned with US business hours.Ability to meet productivity targets and turnaround time commitments.Commitment to maintaining compliance, quality, and customer service standards.
