Job Description
Work in 24x7 shift: 8:00 16:00, 16:00 00:00 and 00:00 08:00 India time. Also with weekend work.
5 candidate for each shift.
Budget: INR 5000 - 7500 / Day
(lower experience candidate will be having a lower budget)
VMware Platform Patching
- Plan, schedule, and execute patching for VMware ESXi hosts (vSphere 8.x) across multiple clusters.
- Perform vCenter Server Appliance (vCSA) patching, updates, and upgrades in accordance with change management policies.
- Apply security patches, bug fixes, and VMware lifecycle updates using vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) and esxcli.
- Maintain and remediate host images, baselines, and firmware compatibility using vLCM.
Validation Post Patching Tasks
- Perform post patch health checks on ESXi hosts, clusters, datastores, and management services.
- Validate VMware services, cluster stability, and VM performance after patching.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues arising from failed or partial patch installations.
Automation Tooling
- Use native VMware tools and command-line utilities to standardize and automate patching where applicable.
- Collaborate on automation initiatives (AWX or scripting exposure) to improve patching efficiency and consistency.
Documentation Change Management
- Create and maintain patching procedures, runbooks, and rollback plans.
- Log patching activities, outcomes, and issues in ServiceNow (SNOW) under Incident, Change, or Maintenance records.
- Participate in change reviews and provide risk/impact assessments for planned patching activities.
Required Skills Experience (Patching-Focused)
- Solid hands on experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter patching.
- Expertise in vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM) and esxcli.
- Practical knowledge of maintenance mode operations, vMotion, and cluster patch sequencing.
- Experience with ITIL Change and Incident Management processes.
- Familiarity with enterprise hardware platforms (Lenovo, HP, Dell) as they relate to VMware patch compatibility.
- Working experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) for patch and change tracking.
